This week has been a dream! For those of you who haven’t heard, we posted a brand new song (a parody, really) called “Every Band in the U.S.A.” on our myspace last Monday. Welp, the response was game-changing, which made us think, “Hey, this thing needs a face!”
So, we shot a modest video on my iPhone & posted it on Thanksgiving to our youtube channel. Next thing we knew, you - our AMAZING fans - turned it into a widespread phenomenon, with almost 100,000 plays in just 3 days! So, we thank you, without your help this wouldn’t be happening, we’re excited and humbled to be representing the good fight for independent music, and we want it to keep going! YouTube is the new MTV, and there is no longer a middle man between us. We must say, it’s been truly beautiful to connect with you all in such a one-on-one, real way - even if we did get laughed at in the process. It’s why we do this, really…
This whole thing began as a tongue-in-cheek observation, a commentary if you will, on what we see on tour in America. The truth is, a lot of times we feel a bit old fashioned, a bit left out, playing with some of these decked out, slick bands who enjoy such immediate success and appeal in music - it’s really like the original Miley lyric says: “guess we didn’t get the memo!?” Welp, turns out there’s been a lot of people who connected to it, and it feels really great. If we can’t laugh, then let’s all get day jobs! It was meant in no way as a stab to Miley, Glamour Kills, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low or anyone else we called out - and we’re glad it hasn’t been received as such - in fact, they’ve all endorsed the video! (except Miley, we may need to send her a fruit basket tomorrow …)
Which brings me to my final point: Where do we go from here? This thing has LONG LEGS thanks to you guys, the sky is the limit. Everybody e-mail all their friends & tell him 2 post THIS whereever they can. We love you for helping out!
